In our previous blog post, we addressed “2 of the Biggest Hiring Challenges in the Current Marketplace.” However, there are more than just two challenges that exist in terms of hiring. Those were just two of the biggest.
The fact of the matter is that employers are facing as many challenges as they’ve ever faced. That’s because the Baby Boomer Generation continues to retire by the droves and there simply are not enough workers to replace them. Sure, there are more Millennials in the workforce than any other generation, but they’re not serving as a panacea to organizations’ personnel and/or hiring woes.
With all of this in mind, below are three more big hiring challenges in the current marketplace:
#1—Fewer qualified candidates, more so than before.
Candidates are in short supply. In addition, quality candidates are in short supply. And not only that, but highly qualified candidates are in even shorter supply! The fact of the matter is that top candidates are scarce, and they’re almost becoming more scarce with each passing day.
#2—Top candidates, by and large, are not looking for a new job.
Even if you find a top candidate, that candidate is probably not looking for a new employment opportunity. That’s because, quite simply, their current employer wants to keep them! Considering the information that we just covered, that should not come as a surprise.
#3—Top candidates need to be convinced to consider another opportunity.
You can’t just call up a top candidate and say, “Hey, I have a job for you.” Successfully contacting them is only half the battle. The other half is convincing them that your opportunity is the next best step in their career. In other words, you have to recruit them. You have to “sell” them, not only on the opportunity, but also on your organization. And doing so has not been easy and will not be easy going forward.
So with all of this in mind and with these challenges clearly articulated, how can your organization set itself up for hiring success this year and throughout the rest of the decade?
Once again, this is why it’s important to consider aligning yourself with an experienced recruiting firm that has a track record of finding the candidates that your company or organization needs.
